The Rules of Roofing

When it comes to refurbishing your roof, you want to be sure that the company carrying out the work will not only do a good job but also that your legal obligations are met. By using a CompetentRoofer registered contractor, you can rest assured that they have been audited and inspected against a robust set of criteria including, a financial check, office audit, and site inspection prior to joining and throughout their membership.

Not only does CompetentRoofer recognise the skills, and competencies of professional Roofing Contractors but the scheme alleviates the hassle, and cost of requiring the involvement of LABC or an Approved Inspector.

Protect yourself!

CompetentRoofer is the Government-licenced Competent Person Scheme that allows professional roofing contractors to self-certify that their roof refurbishment work complies with Building Regulations within England and Wales.  The scheme encompasses all roofing types for domestic, industrial and commercial properties and is open to all roofing contractors to apply.

If 50% or more of your roof needs to be replaced*, then under the Building Regulations, you must upgrade your installation to the current minimum standard and your Local Authority needs to be notified a minimum of 48 hours before work commences. Failure to comply could result in an enforcement notice from your Local Authority, and you will face difficulties when you decide to sell your property.
